Primary Responsibilities
- Tax Enforcement Representation — Represent taxing bodies in legal proceedings related to delinquent real estate tax collection, including filing actions and managing case progression.
- Court Appearances — Attend hearings before the Court of Common Pleas, magistrate courts, bankruptcy courts and appellate courts; present arguments and advocate for client interests.
- Legal Drafting — Prepare pleadings, motions, judgments, settlement documents, and related filings in accordance with statutory and procedural requirements.
- Client Communication — Provide timely updates, guidance, and legal recommendations to municipal officials, tax collectors, and county representatives.
- Property & Title Review — Review property records, liens, and ownership information relevant to tax enforcement matters.
- Corporate Legal Support — Assist with general corporate legal matters such as contract review, policy drafting, employment issues and compliance, as assigned.
- Case Management — Maintain organized case files, track deadlines, and ensure timely movement of all assigned matters.
Qualifications
Required
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in Pennsylvania (or ability to obtain promptly)
- 0–3 years of legal experience, preferably in litigation, municipal law, real estate, or creditor’s rights
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously with accuracy and professionalism
Preferred
- Experience with real estate law, tax enforcement, or municipal representation
- Familiarity with Pennsylvania property records, tax sale processes, and local court procedures
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Work Environment & Expectations
This role provides early-career attorneys with substantial courtroom exposure and meaningful engagement with local government operations with a growing company. The attorney will work both independently and collaboratively within a small legal team, contributing to the effective functioning of public entities through diligent tax enforcement. Possibility to work remotely 2 days a week once trained.
