Are postmark dates accepted when applying discount rates to my real estate or utility bill?

Discount and face payments will be accepted and applied according to the postmark date.  However, because the Postal Service has changed how and when mail is processed, you need to be aware of a few important details.

Under USPS rules (DMM 608.11), dropping mail into a postal collection box on the due date does not guarantee a same-day postmark. Machine postmarks reflect when mail reaches a regional processing center, which may be days after the drop.  To ensure your payment receives a timely postmark, the USPS recommends that you visit your local post office and request a free manual hand-postmark.

Penalty and final installment payments must be physically received in our office by the due date shown on the statement.
